Frequently Asked
Questions

1 / What level of fitness do I have to be?

The program is suitable for all fitness levels. From the movement assessment I can choose the correct progressions for you. It's you versus you, so you will benchmark where you are at and continuously improve over time.

2 / What equipment do I need?

You need access to a pull up and dip bars ideally at a minimum. These can be bought for at home or you can find a local calisthenics park (https://calisthenics-parks.com/cities/) train in. Otherwise a mat/carpet and some space to move in. If you have the ability to obtain a skipping rope, a selection of different thickness, long resistance bands and gymnastic rings it will open up endless possibilities.

3 / Will I gain a lot of muscle?

With this style of training, you should develop a toned, athletic look. Gaining a lot of muscles like a body builder is not the aim of this program is frankly very hard to achieve, requires a lot of dedication to eating and training in a certain way, again this is not the aim od this style of training although you will likely gain some muscle.

4/ How much time will each session take?

That depends on the time you have available in the week.

5/ Does it cover mobility/flexibility too?

Yes, there is a dedicated section in each workout to develop your mobility. Each exercise is also trained through full range of motion which encourages development of joint mobility. The integration of unilateral (single sided) training also helps to address any imbalances and reduce injury risk, have you feeling good.

6/ How will this help my surfing?

Surfing is a skill based sport which requires many physical qualities such as upper body strength, lower body strength, upper and lower body mobility, co-ordination, power, reactivity to name a few. You have the surfing component which can be divided into surfing technique, wave reading/ocean knowledge. Your ability to express your skill on surfing sits on the base foundation of the attributes described. By improving the base of these attributes you provide a greater base to express your skill of surfing upon. For example, you may be landlocked and find when you go on your surf trip, you find you are exhausted by the paddle out and don't have the stamina to now paddle and catch waves. This limits your wave time and your time to practice the skill of surfing - such as bottom turns etc. You may also need to improve your ability to read waves and the ocean. This program will not address these factors.

7/ How often can I contact my coach?

As much as you want, the better we can understand each other, the better the outcomes. Replies within 24 hours.
